Dennis Tarr, 67, of Beacon passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016, at his home in Beacon. Dennis Wayne Tarr, son of Floyd Joseph and Vernice Elma (Seifert) Tarr, was born September 4, 1949, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Dennis was a 1968 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. September 20, 1968, he married Connie Sue Brown, his life-long sweetheart who he met at a school dance.

In his younger years Dennis built pole barns and was later hired at Clow Valve Company where he worked for 35 years. He retired from Clow as a general foreman in 2006.

Dennis and Connie loved to travel and Las Vegas was a favorite destination for the couple. While at home, he enjoyed golf and, as a young man, he enjoyed hunting.

His family includes his children: Kassandra (& Robert) Divelbiss of Pella, Jason (& Kristi) Tarr of University Park, and Heather Youngberg of Oskaloosa; eight grandchildren; a brother, Don (& Carla) Tarr of Oskaloosa; and a sister, Dixie Gibbons of Oskaloosa.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Connie on December 10, 2014, Dennis was preceded in death by a brother, John; and five sisters: Dolores McKinney, Margie Black, Lois Van Toorn, and Marguerite and Margarete as children.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Forest Cemetery, with Pastor Andy Baker of Central Reformed Church officiating.
Family and Friends may gather at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel at 12:30 p.m. and a procession will leave for the cemetery at 12:45 p.m.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will be at the funeral chapel from 4-6 p.m. to greet visitors.
Memorials may be made to the family and will be designated at a later time.
