This year’s parade is Thursday, December 1st at 7:00 pm at Oskaloosa Downtown Square. Due to construction the parade route must be altered. See map below for parking restrictions and route change. The Oskaloosa Main Street and Area Chamber, Oskaloosa Police Department and City Officials want everyone to be safe and enjoy this year’s 29th annual Lighted Christmas Parade.

Here are some friendly reminders: First, due to safety concerns the Oskaloosa Main Street/Chamber and the City will be implementing a strict policy of keeping the public a safe distance from the floats along the parade route. As a precaution a ban on parking will be enforced on Thursday December 1st on High Avenue from 3rd Street up to Market Street and 1st Ave from 2nd Street up to Market. The standing area on High Avenue and 1st Ave will be coned off this year in an effort to maintain a safe and larger operating area for the floats along the parade route. We are asking that all patrons of the parade observe the parade from behind the cones. One of our major concerns are the children who tend to gravitate towards the floats. Please keep a watchful eye out for your children.

A final item of note for this year’s event is the throwing or handing out of candy. As in years past, candy should only be handed to children by adults walking the parade route. The enforcement of these rules is for the safety and benefit for you as a patron of the event and for the operators of the floats driving the parade route.

Handicap Parking 2nd Ave East just north of the library.

The Oskaloosa Police Department will be shutting down and barricading all access to the downtown at 6:30pm.

Check out the map of the parade route now so you can plan ahead on where you would like to be this year.

Float winners will be announced at 9:30 at our new event “Holiday Market and Show “held in the Penn Central Mall immediately following the parade.
