Community 1st Credit Union has been awarded a 2016 “Top Workplaces” honor by The Des Moines Register. The newspaper recognizes 150 Iowa companies and organizations annually.

The employer honor is based on results of an employee feedback survey administered by WorkplaceDynamics, LLC, a research firm specializing in organizational health and workplace environment.

Community 1st Credit Union was a newcomer to the Top Workplaces designation in its first year applying for the honor. WorkplaceDynamics first published the list in 2006.

“We’re honored to be named a top workplace in Iowa,” said Anne Hagen, C1st vice-president of marketing. “We strive to improve the lives of our members AND employees. We’re a strong and empowered team, creating unique and fun experiences for our employees. The results of our employee survey prove we have something special going on here. I’m proud to be a part of our enthusiastic team.”

Several aspects of workplace culture were measured including alignment, execution, and connection.

“The most successful companies are the ones that employees believe in,” reads a quote from the WorkplaceDynamics website.

Community 1st Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative with more than $574 million in assets. The credit union, established in 1936, serves more than 58,000 members.

C1st has more than 230 employees and is headquartered in Ottumwa. The credit union has branches in Albia, Amana, Bloomfield, Cedar Rapids, Centerville, Chariton, Fairfield, Grinnell, Indianola, Mount Pleasant, Oskaloosa, Ottumwa, Pella and Washington.
