Margaret Edwards, 84, of Knoxville, died Friday, September 2, 2016, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born March 7, 1932, in Fremont, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Nadine Alderman McCreery.

Margaret attended school in Fremont. Following school, she helped on the family farm. On February 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to Richard Edwards, at Oskaloosa. Richard died October 8, 2011.

Following their marriage, Margaret stayed home to care for her home and family. In 1954, the family moved to Knoxville.

Margaret was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville and served as the co-chair of Mary’s Circle. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Almost Free Store in Knoxville.

Margaret enjoyed gardening, bird watching and doing ceramics. She delighted in spending time with her family. She was very proud of all of her children and grandchildren.

Her family includes her four children: Debra (& Buddy) Edwards-Shepard of Loveland, Colorado, Daniel Lee (& Debbie) Edwards of Ames, Scott M. Edwards of Knoxville, and Doug (& Tryce Houston) Edwards of Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandchildren: Megan Edwards-Donner and Sean Richard Edwards; three great grandchildren: Forest, Holland and Myra Donner; and a sister, Mildred Martin of Oskaloosa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Helen Briggs and Opal Martin.

As was Margaret’s wish her body has been cremated.
No visitation is planned.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
