Ruth Sampson, 93, of Montezuma passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, August 1, 2016 at her home in Montezuma. Ruth Alice Sampson was born on November 5, 1922, the daughter of Edward and Ida P (Sanders) Lowe.

Ruth graduated from Barnes City High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Roger Henry Sampson on December 11, 1941.

Ruth and her husband Roger farmed.

Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Ruth enjoyed cooking, basketball, softball, and most of all, Ruth dearly loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Bev (& Lamont) Strong of Montezuma, IA; three grandchildren: Angela (& Sean) Sutfin of Montezuma, IA , Brett (& Kellie) Strong of Brooklyn, IA, and Susie (& Jay) Robertson of North Liberty, IA; 13 great grandchildren: Brody McKeag, Maddy McKeag, Thomas (& Andrea Sandoval) Sutfin, Chelsey (& Luke) Bogaards, Teona (& John Greaves) Sutfin, Robert Sutfin, Kodie Strong, Shaye Strong, Ryanne Martin, Tate Martin, Kinsley Robertson, Trace Robertson, and Cal Robertson; four great-great grandchildren: Kayla Sutfin, Nora Bogaards, Ella Bogaards and Shelby Bogaards; two brothers-in-law: Max (& Dorothy) Sampson and Royce (& Donna) Sampson; a sister-in-law, Imogene McMahan; a nephew, Donnie (& Cherie) Young; their sons: Justin, Preston and Austin; along with many other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger; an infant daughter, Susan Ruth in 1949; and her sister, Dorothy Young.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.
Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Thursday, August 4, 2016 with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Montezuma United Methodist Church.
