A total of seven individuals garnered the highest recognition they could receive as All-Americans during the 2015-2016 school year and their efforts earned the #4 spot on our countdown.

Track and field athlete Derek Seddon led the list as he actually collected two NAIA All-America awards. The junior was seventh in the indoor shot put at 53-3.75 and then bettered that in the outdoor campaign by placing second in the discus at 188-1.75.

Hea Tuifua was WPU’s first All-American of the year, bringing home AFCA-NAIA First-Team laurels for the football team. The senior center headlined an offensive line that helped the Statesmen top the nation with 3,874 rushing yards.

Seniors Steven Roundtree (Third Team) and Brady Burford (Honorable Mention) gave the Statesmen men’s basketball team a pair of All-Americans. Roundtree averaged 16.1 points and 9.3 rebounds, while Burford tallied 16.0 points and 7.4 rebounds.

Fellow cager Alyssa Phillips represented the women’s basketball program as an Honorable Mention. The junior average 14.0 points and 7.1 rebounds, but was most impressive as a shooter by leading the entire NAIA with a 60.4% field-goal mark.

Stephanie Adams was strong on the lanes, earning Second-Team All-American accolades. The junior finished her season with a 192.5 pin average, including a school single-game record of 289.

Women’s golfer Demi Coertze became the final All-American (Second Team) of the campaign. The senior averaged 78.5 strokes per round, including a low of 72. She won five tournaments during 2015-2016.
