GRINNELL’S PUTS 278 ON ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College landed 278 student-athletes on the Midwest Conference All-Academic Team for 2015-16.
That total puts Grinnell second in the conference, one behind Carroll University’s total of 279.
The criteria to become an Academic All-Conference selection includes a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.33 which is calculated only in the awarded academic year. Freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors who letter in any of the MWC’s fall, winter or spring sports are eligible for the award. Grinnell had a league-best 94 athletes in the winter sports season and 79 in the spring, which tied for the top spot. The Pioneers added 105 honorees in the fall.
In terms of individual sports, Grinnell was first in the conference in men’s cross country (16), women’s cross country (23), men’s soccer (16), women’s soccer (20), men’s basketball (seven), women’s basketball (12), men’s indoor track (234), men’s swimming and diving (14) and men’s outdoor track (21).
