Rosellen Seaton, 81, of Deep River died Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Brooklyn Community Estates in Brooklyn.

Rosellen Helen Seaton was born in Newhall, Iowa on December 3, 1934 the daughter of Edwin and Ida Boddiker Matson.

Rosellen was a 1952 graduate of Newhall High School and later received her teaching certificate from the Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught Kindergarten in Marengo for three years.

On December 27, 1955 she was united in marriage to Charlie Seaton. To this union came six sons. The couple eventually bought a farm south of Deep River where they milked cows, raised hogs and sold seed corn.

As a mother of six boys she found herself always feeding extra kids as her house became the place to hang out. Rosellen also worked as a substitute teacher in all the area schools before retiring in 2006.

She enjoyed canning, puzzles, crafts, baking pies, the Iowa Hawkeyes, going to the casino, her pet dogs, her grandchildren and any type of family gathering.

Rosellen is survived by six sons: Mike Seaton, Mark (& Sherri) Seaton, Eric (& Barb) Seaton, Rodney (& Lori) Seaton, Pat (& Becky) Seaton and Chris (& Amber) Seaton. Rosellen was also blessed with eighteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren, with one on the way.

Rosellen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charlie; a brother, Edwin Matson; three sisters: Alice Ellingson, Virginia Seifert, and Mary Matson; and a brother-in-law, Lou Brown.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.
Burial will be in the Sixteen Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday with family present from 4:00 to 8:00m pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Deep River Fire Department.
