Homestead Assisted Living Care Center resident, Harriett Jones, wished she could get out and go to the newly renovated Alley next to Smokey Row to see her son, Phil Jones, honored on a Historical Marker. She was unable to get there on her own but friends, Andy, and Janan Clark, made her wish come true with a trip to The Alley on Monday afternoon.

Harriett was delighted and a little emotional as her friends and two of the Alley KADTS, also Harriet’s PEO sisters, shared in her visit. One of the KADTS and PEO sisters told her that Phil was amazing. Harriett, at 94 years old, responded with the frankness known to her, “I know, He IS amazing!”.

She later responded to her still-in-awe KADTS/PEO sisters as Phil’s mom, stating, “He’s just Phil, that’s all. Just Phil.” Phil Jones grew up in Oskaloosa Iowa and attended Osky Schools. He moved to LA to pursue a career in Rock and Roll after high school and has enjoyed a full career performing with Oskar, Crabby Appleton, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Joe Walsh, Johnny Rivers, Jack Tempchin, Bernard Fowler and Jason Sinay. He also has recorded with Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Joe Walsh, Bob Dylan, and the Rolling Stones, and has been awarded 7 gold records which sold over 1 million copies each.

The KADTS/PEO sisters stated after their shared alley visit, “these are the beautiful moments that make The Alley project even more special! We are so grateful to share this moment with Harriett and her friends!”
