What: Christmas in July
Why: To raise money for new Christmas decorations & Lighting for the downtown area.
When: Saturday, July 16. Children’s games from 11-3. Evening & Adult activities from 6-11
Where: Oskaloosa Downtown Square
The main goal of the Christmas in July event is to raise funds for new Christmas decorations and lighting for the Oskaloosa Downtown square. Oskaloosa’s current Christmas light-pole decorations have withstood the wind, rain, sleet and snow for the past 20 years and it is simply time for a makeover!
The Oskaloosa Main Street has fabulous plans to make the downtown area glimmer and sparkle with lights for the community to enjoy but also to attract visitors from surrounding area. However, we must have the funds to begin the project. The project is projected to be completed in four phases.
Phase 1: Painting with Lights
Phase 2: Oskaloosa Bandstand and Pole Lighting.
Phase 3: Light Pole Decoration on Hwy 63 and Hwy 92.
Phase 4: Additional Christmas Tree Lighting and year-around perimeter lighting on buildings.
As you can tell, this project is a serious financial undertaking. We need YOUR support to help this project get started. And don’t forget there will be an eye-opening display of what Oskaloosa’s downtown will look like (once we get the funds) at Christmas in July around 9:30 PM.
