Aaron Shust will headline the second annual Concert on the Square this Saturday
National Christian recording artist Aaron Shust will headline the second annual Concert on the Square this Saturday in Oskaloosa. In addition to the performance by Aaron Shust five local bands will be playing, eight food vendors will be present, and there will be a large Kids Zone presented by Mahaska Drug, all on the square. The event is free and the festivities begin with the opening of the food vendors and Kids Zone at 5pm, along with the first band taking the stage. Aaron Shust is expected to take the stage around 7:30pm
Last year nearly 2,000 people turned out to the event’s first edition, headlined by Tim Timmons. Event planning team member Andy Baker expressed that the event is positioned to grow from its first edition. “Last year we were just thrilled with the turnout and the results, and it motivated us to take things to another level. We’ve doubled the number of food vendors, worked with Mahaska Drug to bring in even bigger and better games, and are thrilled to welcome a current top 10 artist in Aaron Shust.” Mr. Baker added that a major goal of the planning committee has been to keep the event free. “It is so expensive to do anything with your family these days, so we’ve done everything possible to keep this event free. We are so thankful to the many churches, businesses, and individuals that donated to make this event possible. The only cost that night is for food, and we are excited about the wide variety of vendors that will be joining us.”
Aaron Shust is well established in Christian music, having recorded top singles including My Savior My God, God of Brilliant Lights, Give Me Words to Speak, and My Hope is In You. His most recent single, Ever Be, currently sits at #10 on the Billboard Christian Chart. He is the winner of three Dove Awards, has had multiple #1 Billboard singles. Aaron has toured throughout the world, sharing the stage with the likes of Mercy Me and Third Day. In addition to recording and touring Aaron serves as the volunteer worship leader at his hometown church in Pennsylvania, where he lives with his wife and three sons. Asked this week about coming to Oskaloosa Mr. Shust shared that “we’re looking forward to it. Specifically, we’re looking forward to worshiping with you, because that’s what we’re all about. It’s never about a performance for us.”
