5 Grinnell softball players named NFCA Scholar-Athlete

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College softball players Lydia Stariha ’17, Megan Gibson ’17, Andi Leff ’18, Maggie Remus ’18 and Kayla Morrissey ’18 earned Scholar-Athlete honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for the 2016 campaign.

In order to be honored, players must have a grade point average of at least 3.50.

Stariha has earned the honor three times, while Leff and Remus are two-time honorees.

Those five contributed to a season in which the Pioneers posted 16 overall victories, the most since the 2006 campaign. They also won eight contests in the Midwest Conference, tying the most wins in league play since 2006.

Additionally, Grinnell set numerous team and individual records during the 2016 campaign.
