Oskaloosa Main Street sponsors “Christmas in July”
on July 16 to raise funds for downtown Christmas decorations

Oskaloosa Main Street is hosting an exciting fundraiser, “Christmas in July” on Saturday, July 16 on the Square. The all-day event is designed to raise money for the purchase of new Christmas lights and decorations in the downtown area.

According to Oskaloosa Main Street Organization Chair Cathy Stahl, Christmas in July will feature kids’ and family activities throughout the day and a live band and beverage garden in the evening. “We’re excited to have Broseph E. Lee, who will be bringing a full-blown country-rock concert. These musicians are wildly talented, energetic and thrive on entertaining crowds of all ages.”

Every show by the band includes rock ballads and pop hits spanning from the 80s to today. With the release of their 2015 EP, “Fill ‘Em On Up,” Broseph E. Lee’s original sound has been well-received, landing opening acts with some of the top names in country music.

“While this event is a fundraiser for Oskaloosa Main Street, the committee decided that the children’s games should all be free-of-charge so everyone in the community can participate and celebrate with us,” Stahl explained. “We will have donation boxes around the square for free-will contributions anyone wishes to make.

“We have also teamed up with Red Basket, a free crowdfunding website where all of your donation goes directly to the project you are supporting,” Stahl continued. “Our site is currently open so you can visit redbasket.org and browse under community projects for Oskaloosa’s Christmas in July.

“Any donation you make will bring us closer to our ultimate goal of raising $38,000 to purchase new Christmas decorations for downtown,” Stahl shared. “Plus, 100% of your donation will go toward this project and your donation is tax-deductible. It’s truly a win-win.”A schedule of the day’s activities includes:
