Clarence E. Grubb, 69, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. He was born May 3, 1947, in Mahaska County, the son of Clarence E. and Ruth Dannels Grubb, Sr.

Clarence graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1965. On November 6, 1965, he was united in marriage to Kathy Welch at the Good News Chapel in Oskaloosa.

Early on Clarence worked at the Chevrolet Dealership in Oskaloosa. In 1974, he went to work at John Deere in Ottumwa. He retired from there in 2004, after 30 years of service. In retirement he worked part time at Interpower in Oskaloosa.

Clarence enjoyed attending the Gateway Church of the Nazarene in Oskaloosa. He was a member of Oskaloosa Lions Club, and MHP Hospice Auxiliary.

Clarence loved to go to the races, he spent many hours at the track helping his son with his race car. He enjoyed working in his machine shop and making parts for race cars, operating radio control cars and helicopters, and watching NASCAR. He delighted in spending time with his family and his dog Macy.

His family includes his wife of over 50 years, Kathy Grubb of Oskaloosa; two children and their spouses: Kelly (& Charles) Fisher of Fremont and Gordon (& Paula) Grubb of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren: Kassandra Feist, Benjamin Feist, Lexi Grubb, Madison Matheny, Karly Grubb, and Kenna Grubb; two great grandsons: Aiden Feist and Ryker Feist; three brothers: Dick (& Lori) Grubb, Lee (& Retalee) Grubb, and David Grubb, all of Oskaloosa; his mother in law, Mary Welch of Oskaloosa; a sister in law and her husband, Kim (& Mike) Roozeboom of Oskaloosa; a brother in law and his wife, Ted (& Connie) Welch of Oskaloosa; and many nieces and nephews.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and his father in law, Max Welch.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Mark Doll officiating.
Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Friday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Friday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Stephen’s Memorial Animal Shelter.
