Leonard Earl McNabb, 86, of Delta, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at his home in Delta. He was born August 18, 1929, in the Tioga neighborhood of Mahaska County.

Leonard graduated from the Delta High School with the class of 1947. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army as a switchboard operator during the Korean Conflict.

In 1951, Leonard was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Buckingham in Lawton, Oklahoma. Dorothy died February 9, 1997.

Early on, Leonard and his dad owned and operated McNabb & Son Well Drilling. He later went to work for Amana Refrigeration and retired from there in 1993.

Leonard loved hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed doing scratch off tickets and never saw a western movie he didn’t like. He will forever be remembered as a world class teaser.

His family includes his two sons: David (& Kathryn) McNabb of Williamsburg and Terry McNabb of Delta; a granddaughter, Stacy (& Joe) Strong; three great grandsons: Dakota, Gavin and Dane; and a brother, Merrill (& Carol) McNabb of West Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Clair McNabb.

Graveside services and burial will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 2 P.M. in the Garrett Cemetery in Delta with Reverend Vince Homan officiating.
Graveside military rites will be given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W.
Visitation will begin at 12 noon on Thursday at the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be present from 12 noon until 1:15 P.M. Thursday to greet friends and relatives.
A procession will form at 1:15 P.M. Thursday at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa for those wishing to go to the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Delta Fire Department.
