Tammy Hill, 50, of Eddyville and formerly of Chicago, Illinois and Sanford, Florida, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. She was born March 18, 1966, in Sanford, Florida, the daughter of George Dennis and Virginia Ellen England O’Brien.

Tammy attended school in Florida. Early on she worked as a waitress. She lived most of her life in Florida and recently had moved to Illinois to be near her daughter. In June of this year, she moved to Eddyville to be closer to her brother.

She enjoyed music and crafts. She delighted in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She attended Faith Missionary Church in Sanford, Florida.

Her family includes her daughter, Cynthia Burgess of Chicago; three granddaughters: Tabitha, Makayla, and Brooklyn; her mother, Virginia Wilton of Sanford, Florida; a brother and his wife, George (& Amanda) O’Brien of Eddyville; and many nieces and nephews.

Tammy was preceded in death by her father; a son, Jonathan Lawrence Burgess; a brother, Ricky Crosby; and her grandparents.

As was Tammy’s wish her body has been cremated and no visitation is planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
