Summer day camps with the Mahaska County Conservation Board are beginning soon! Below is a list of upcoming day camps for kids of all ages. Be sure to sign up soon by calling the MCCB office at (641)673-9327. Payment is due by the first day of camp. Registration forms can be found online at www.mahaskaconservation.com or one can be mailed/e-mailed to you.

The camps are held at the Russell Wildlife Area (2254 – 200th St., New Sharon), which is 4 miles north of Oskaloosa on Hwy. 63 and 1 mile east on 200th Street.

June 21-23 Challenge Camp (deadline is June 17)

Ages 10 & older

10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

$20.00 per camper

Campers will experience many outdoor activities on a more in-depth level than Jr. Naturalist Camp. We will go fishing, hiking, archery, campfire cooking and lots of exploring! We will also be making our own fishing lures for fishing. Campers will be asked to bring a t-shirt to decorate for camp and a water bottle and lunch each day.

June 28-30 Discovery Day Camp (deadline is June 24)

Ages 5 and younger

10:00 a.m. – Noon

$10.00 per camper

Parents are encouraged to attend. Kids will participate in indoor and outdoor activities to explore nature and insect life cycles. This camp’s theme will be “The Hungry Caterpillar”. Campers will be asked to bring a t-shirt to decorate for camp.

July 6-8 Jr. Naturalist Day Camp I (deadline is July 1)

Ages 6-12

10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

$20.00 per camper

Campers will learn about nature around us through exploring. We will go hiking, fishing and more! Campers will be asked to bring a t-shirt to decorate for camp, and a water bottle and lunch each day.

July 12-14 Jr. Naturalist Day Camp II (deadline is July 8)

Ages 6-12

10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

$20.00 per camper

This camp is a repeat from the previous week. Campers will learn about nature around us through exploring. We will go hiking, fishing and more! Campers will be asked to bring a t shirt

to decorate for camp, and a water bottle and lunch each

day.
