Smokey Row is making an effort to support live music by opening up our Rivola Stage to local and regional talent. We’re working towards having talent on the Rivola Stage at least twice a month. We want to be the cornerstone of community and offer the family a place to go together. Have some dinner, maybe top it off with a scoop of your favorite ice cream, and be entertained all at the same time! The entertainment we’re bringing in is coming because they simply want a chance to share with others what they are passionate about. It will always be a family friendly environment.
Smokey Row and G Strings Guitars & More are putting on A Coffee House Amateur Music Talent Contest because we see an opportunity for the youth and young adults to maybe take the first step in what could be their future.
Contest Rules
1. Four-week progressive contest
a. Week one: Tuesday, July 5 – If more than 15 contestants, week one will be split in to two nights with the 2nd night being Wednesday, July 6. (12 Contestants advance to week 2)
b. Week 2: Tuesday, July 12 (9 Contestants advance to week 3)
c. Week 3: Tuesday, July 19 (6 Contestants advance to week 4)
d. Week 4: Tuesday, July 26 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Places awarded
2. Maximum of 24 contestants
3. Contestants must be between the ages of 13 and 20
4. Contestants are not limited by location as long as they can commit to ALL dates listed above.
5. Minor must have a parent or guardian’s consent.
6. All acts must be amateur, qualifying as never have been paid professionally to perform.
7. Solo, Duo, and Trio Acts must perform their musical talent in the forum of a coffee house setting.
8. Accompaniment tracks may be used. Acceptable formats: CD or Auxiliary device (iPod, Cell Phone, Tablet, etc. with Aux input)
9. Performance time limited to 10 minutes. INCLUDES SET UP & PERFORMANCE OF ONE SELECTION EACH NIGHT.
10. Performances may include vocals, acoustic guitars, electric/acoustic guitars, wind, reed, and string instruments. A Cajon is the only acceptable form of percussion.
11. No drum sets, electric guitars with effects or vocal effects processors allowed.
12. Smokey Row will provide the house sound system. No other amplification is allowed.
13. Judging will be on a points system, impartial, and based solely on the musical talent of the contestant.
14. Music selection and performer’s attire must be ALL AGE appropriate and cannot contain any profanity or vulgar insinuations.
15. Genres may include: Pop, soft rock, jazz, R&B, Soul, gospel, country, folk, bluegrass, and original compositions.
16. All contestants must read all rules and sign a hold harmless agreement.
17. Contestant slots will ONLY be given on a first come first serve basis by emailing: Kandace Sage at kandace@smokeyrow.com beginning June 20, 2016 at 10AM.
Email MUST INCLUDE: Contestant’s Name, Date of Birth, Address, Contact Phone Number, Parent or Guardian name if minor, and type of act.

18. First 24 qualifying contestants will be contacted by Kandace Sage on June 21, 2016 with the hold harmless agreement and consent form for minor contestants.
