Editors Note: The views and opinions expressed in this editorial are not necessarily the views or opinions of Oskaloosa News.
As residents of Mahaska County, we have a big primary election coming up. We will be selecting a new County Supervisor candidate. I feel the election will be a big step in how Mahaska County improves and grows in the next four years. We have great candidates to choose from but the choice is obvious. Hopefully each of you have taken the time to do some research and educate yourself on not only the topics but also the candidates and what they offer to the position. If you have not had a chance to watch the forums, please take an hour or two in the next few days and watch at least one of them. I think if you ask anyone that attended them, or get the chance to watch them yourself, Valinn McReynolds is the obvious choice to be the next Republican candidate for Supervisor.
The position of Supervisor has a responsibility to the entire county to do what’s best for the county. The position is about listening and compromising for the betterment of our community. The position needs someone who understands that you don’t always have to agree with the other supervisors, but you have to work together to achieve a common goal.
Valinn has the passion and energy that we need from a leader. Valinn has the ability to listen to all sides, gather the facts, and make the best decision for everyone in Mahaska County. Valinn has the ability to work with both the incorporated cities and the unincorporated areas to achieve what’s best for Mahaska County. We need a leader that will do whats best for everyone and not be closed minded.
I ask you all to get out and vote for Valinn McReynolds on June 7th. Lets continue to grow as a community.
