Janet Rae DeMoss, age 59, of Eddyville, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, May 17, 2016, at the emergency room of the Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

Janet was born on April 20, 1957, to William “Bill” Eugene and Dorothy Lou (Lewman) Franklin in Des Moines, Iowa.

Janet was raised in Eddyville and attended the Eddyville High School.

Janet loved being a homemaker and a full-time Grandma. She also liked to hunt, fish and garden.

Janet is survived by her fiancé Mike Dunwoody of Eddyville; her two daughters: Jodie (& Matt) Hird of Blakesburg and Cindy Nichols of Eddyville; three stepchildren: Bobbi Jo (& Josh) Meredith of Strausburg, CO, Michael Dunwoody of Kingman, AZ, and Bradley Dunwoody of Kingman, AZ; 11 grandchildren: Raelee, William, Jaiden, Zoey, Teagan, Kayden, Kiley, Preston, Porter, Lane, and a soon -to-be-here baby boy, Hunter; her two sisters: Helen (& Gene) Kline of Melrose, IA and Alice (& Rex) Critchlow of Oskaloosa, IA; one brother, Robert “Bob” Franklin of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Dorothy Franklin; her niece, Tylene Franklin; her nephew, T.J. Franklin; and her sister-in-law Linda Franklin.

Funeral service for Janet will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel in Eddyville. The Eddyville Funeral Chapel is assisting Janet’s family with services.
Burial will follow services at Cuba Cemetery of rural Monroe County.
Visitation for Janet will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, May 20, 2016, at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel in Eddyville. Janet’s family will be present Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established to Janet’s family.
