Raymond Edward Weinmeister, 85, of Oskaloosa died Friday, May 20, 2016, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. He was born March 23, 1931, at Windsor, Colorado, the son of Jacob and Molly Crispens Weinmeister, Jr.

Following school Ray entered the United States Navy serving from 1949-1952. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Colorado. On June 18, 1955, he was united in marriage to Nancy Berens at Raton, New Mexico.

Early in life Ray went to work driving semi. He drove for several companies before he went to work for Yellow Freight in 1980. He retired from there in 1993. In 2004, Ray and Nancy moved to Oskaloosa to be closer to their son Steven.

Ray was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He was also a member of the Methodist Church in Windsor, Colorado.

Ray enjoyed being home and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed talking on the cb radio, tinkering in his shop, and hanging out in his man-cave.

His family includes his wife of over 60 years, Nancy Weinmeister of Oskaloosa; four children and their spouses: Debra (& Wayne) Rothgery of Loveland, Colorado, Steven (& Brenda) Weinmeister of Oskaloosa, Sandra (& Dave) Kruse of Lakewood, Colorado, and Robin (& David) Garza of Lakewood, Washington; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Eugene Weinmeister.

As was Ray’s wish his body has been cremated.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held in Colorado in September. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
