All-region softball teams feature two Central players

PELLA — Central College left fielder Tabitha Taylor (sophomore, Grimes, Iowa, Dallas Center-Grimes HS) and pitcher Karly Olson (Junior, Winterset HS) were announced as members of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-Midwest Region softball squads.

Chosen as at-large selections, Taylor landed on the second team while Olson was placed on the third team. Taylor and Olson were previously announced as first-team members of the All-Iowa Conference team.

The team leader with 40 hits this season, Taylor had a .357 batting average over 38 games. She connected on eight doubles and two home runs, earning a .482 slugging percentage. Taylor also had a .979 fielding percentage in 48 chances.

Olson pitched 11 complete games, including two shutouts, while earning a 16-15 record. She struck out 138 batters while limiting opponents to a .253 batting average. Allowing just 63 earned runs in 159.1 innings in the circle, she finished the season with a 2.77 ERA.
