The Mahaska County YMCA

The Mahaska County YMCA

OSKALOOSA – Warmer weather means outside play and swimming pool fun, and the Y is offering activities in both. YMCA Group Swimming lessons are available for adults and kids of all ages, and registration is underway for Adult Sand Volleyball.

Group Swim Lessons –

Swimming is a great life skill and a fun summer activity. But learning to swim means more than mastering swim strokes; it’s also developing safe water habits and learning to be confident in the water to assure safety. The Y’s group swim lessons are taught at the Y’s pool with weekday morning and evening options as well as a Saturday morning opportunity. All sessions include eight 45-minute lessons and the cost is $40 for Y members, $80 for non-members. Summer Swim Lesson will be held June, July and August.

Adult Sand Volleyball –

Volleyball is a great team sport and a great way to enjoy summer sun with invigorating exercise. This summer, the Y is offering an Adult Sand Volleyball league. The program will consist of at least seven league games and then a season-ending double-elimination tournament. The registration deadline is June 6. The fun will take place in the Sand Volleyball court at 1716 A Avenue West (the old Spaghetti’s building) on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Eligible players must be at least 18 years of age or older. The cost is $150 per team with a YMCA member as a captain; $200 per team without a Y member as captain.

Registrations – Contact YMCA Youth Program Director Emily Macki, (emily.macki@mahaskaymca.org), 641.673.8411, with questions and for registration details. Information can also be found on the Y’s web site, www.MahaskaYMCA.org.
