Billy E. Allgood, 88, of Oskaloosa passed away Friday morning, May 6, 2016, at the MHP Hospice Services Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Billy Eugene Allgood was born September 1, 1927, in Beacon, Iowa the second of thirteen children born to Cleo Laverne and Lorena (Owens) Allgood.

Billy was raised in Beacon and later the Eddyville area. He attended high school in Oskaloosa and celebrated with the graduating class of 1944.

Billy entered the Army Air Force, November 1, 1945 and served until December 31, 1946. Upon his return home he worked for Skelly Oil Company, the Block Ice Plant in Oskaloosa, and the John Morrell Meat Packing Company in Ottumwa. In 1953, he was hired by Clow Valve Company. He served in several positions at Clow including, quality control manager, materials manager and field engineer. He was serving as general sales manager when he retired in 1986.

Billy married the love-of-his-life, Betty Jean Reynolds, May 15, 1947, at the First Baptist Church in Oskaloosa. Billy was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church and served in many capacities over the years. He was a member of the Tri-Luminar Lodge, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the American Legion Post #34.

Billy enjoyed golfing and hunting pheasants in his younger years. After he and Betty had retired, they began wintering in Apache Junction, Arizona. They made many new friends and enjoyed 27 winters there.

Billy’s family includes his children: Jim Allgood of Kansas City, MO, and Shirley (& Gary) Malin of Oskaloosa; two grandchildren: Jayme (& Nichole) Malin of North Liberty, IA and Jodi (& Mike) Clement of Ames, IA; four great-grandchildren: Liahna, Elise and Kiara Malin and Kyle Clement; three sisters: Phyllis (& Harley) Yates of Oskaloosa, Joyce (& Richard) Emanuel of Oskaloosa, and Carmen Allgood of Oskaloosa; four brothers: Ronald Allgood of Oskaloosa, Dennis (& Marlene) Allgood of Oskaloosa, Rex (& Marge) Allgood of What Cheer, and Stephen (& Betty) Allgood of Eddyville; two sisters-in-law: Judy Allgood of Gowrie, IA and Phyllis Allgood of Grayslake, IL; a brother-in-law, Les Cubit of Oskaloosa; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Betty on November 20, 2014, Billy was preceded in death by three brothers: Donald, Jack and Larry Allgood; two sisters: Inez Bloodsworth and Judy Cubit; a sister-in-law, Betty Allgood; and a brother-in-law Albert Bloodsworth.

Funeral services for Billy will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Reverend Andrea Brownlee of the First Christian Church officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery with Military Honors by the Oskaloosa Honor Guard.
Visitation will begin at noon, Monday at the funeral chapel; the family will be present from 5-7 p.m. to greet visitors.
A Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m. following the visitation.
Memorials may be made to the MHP Hospice Serenity House or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
