Carolyn Sue Bittner, 67, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, May 6, 2016, at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born Tuesday, July 27, 1948, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Leonard and Norma Jean Van Steenis Allgood.

Early on, Carolyn worked for a men’s clothier in Knoxville and later at Rolscreen in Pella. She also raised pigs for a while and worked at Panel Components in Oskaloosa. Lastly, Carolyn worked in ministry with her husband Del. Carolyn was a hard worker and wasn’t afraid to jump in to a project.

In June of 1964, Carolyn was united in marriage to Wes Wills, they later divorced. To this union three children were born. On November 28, 1997, Carolyn was united in marriage to Del Bittner in Oskaloosa.

Carolyn was a member of the 1st Assembly of God Church and Rose Hill Community Church. She had a great love for children. She was a foster parent for many years.

Her family includes her husband, Reverend Dr. Del Bittner of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Robin (& Tom) Gay of Oskaloosa; two sons: Jay (& Joy) Wills and Marty (& Lori) Wills both of Oskaloosa; four step children: Kandi (& Reverend Darin) League of Deer Valley, Arizona, Kim (& David) Stewart of Glendale, Arizona, Scott (& Renea) Bittner of Gilbert, Arizona and Karla Bittner of Oskaloosa; a brother, Skip (& Shelby) Allgood of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Deloris Allgood of Lakeland, Florida; 9 grandchildren: K.C. McKay, Tomi Jo Van Kampen, Ashley Reader, Brandon Randal, Kaleb Wills, Shawni Wills, Jacob Wills, Taylor Wills and Ki Wills; four great grandchildren: Ava, Mason, Kamryn and Aubree; 12 step grandchildren: Devon, Kailey, Shawnacie, Sharree, Sharon, Marrisa, Dillon, Cory, Ana, Levi, Marcus and Nikki; a step great grandson, Weston; and Aunt Mae and Uncle Bob who were extremely faithful, and the family is very thankful for.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Dr. Del Bittner officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, May 11, 2016, after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa and the family will be present at the funeral chapel Wednesday from 5 – 7 P.M. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials maybe made to the Rose Hill Community Church.
