Henry, McKinstry to Participate in Farewell Tour Game

Oskaloosa–William Penn Head Men’s Basketball Coach John Henry will partner up with one of his former players as part of a special night Sunday.

Henry will coach the Sports Page All-Star team as they go up against seniors from Iowa, Iowa State, and Northern Iowa in the ISU/Iowa/UNI Farewell Tour, presented by Sports Page Sporting Goods.

The game will be held at newly-renovated Marshalltown High School Roundhouse Gym Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $12 at any Sports Page retail location (Altoona, Pella, or Marshalltown), for $15 online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/farewell-tour-tickets-24337682664, or at the door for $20.

Players on the All-Star team will contest of NCAA Division I alumni as well as All-Americans and national champions. That is where former Statesmen player and assistant coach Joe McKinstry enters. The head coach of the reigning NJCAA Division II women’s basketball national champion squad at Kansas City (Kan.) Community College, McKinstry will compete on the All-Star side.

The All-Star team will face off against the best seniors from ISU, UI, and UNI, including Georges Niang, Abdel Nader, and Jameel McKay of Iowa State, Anthony Clemons of Iowa, and Wes Washpun, Matt Bohannon, and Paul Jesperson of Northern Iowa.

VIP tickets ($100, online only) are also available and will give fans courtside or behind-the-bench seating as well as priority access to the autograph session after the game.

Proceeds from the gate as well as from autographed player memorabilia sales will go to the MHS Roundhouse revitalization project.
