MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health Partnership invites the public to share in the celebration of National Doctors’ Day on Wednesday, Mar. 30.

According to MHP CEO Jay Christensen, the purpose of the special day is to thank medical providers for the countless hours they dedicate to their patients. “We are fortunate to have a diverse medical staff, which affords us the opportunity to offer a wide variety of services to our community,” Christensen said.

“Everything we do at MHP directly relates to the needs of our patients and none of it would be possible without the dedication of the medical professionals serving on our campus.”

Christensen explained that the community benefits from MHP’s outstanding medical staff. “We are truly blessed to work with such a dedicated group of medical professionals who strive to give outstanding medical services.”

Great examples of providers going above and beyond are often recognized in patient comments and surveys. While MHP continues to receive positive comments on doctors almost every day, a few of the most recent ones include:

“Dr. (Peter) Hoftiezer offered to give me and my bike a ride home after my appointment because it was the end of the day and it was raining. I think more doctors should be like Dr. Hoftiezer. He isn’t only a doctor but a friend as well. He is awesome. ”

“I have a lot of trust in Dr. (Stephen) Mineart. I drive from Ottumwa to see him and he is worth it. Been his patient for 14 years. “

“Dr. (John) O’Brien is always willing to discuss concerns and never makes me feel rushed. He is very practical in his advice and I appreciate that he doesn’t (give) extreme solutions”

“Dr. (Shawn) Richmond is one of my doctors and all three of my kids’ doctor. He is very caring and listens and explains very well. He is the best, very understanding answers all my questions, would not change him for anything.”

“First time to see Dr. (Valerie) Bonnett (and was) very impressed with everything- she did not hesitate to call in surgeon for their opinion; very satisfied; I have recommended her highly for anyone; very good experience very impressed.”

Christensen stressed the importance of providers in rural healthcare settings. “Without a great medical staff, we wouldn’t be able to provide the wide array of services we have at MHP. I am thankful to work with such a wonderful healthcare team in Oskaloosa.”

Whether providing surgical services, delivering babies, offering specialized medical services or taking care of your primary care services, MHP providers have one goal: the health and well-being of you and your family. On National Doctors’ Day and every day, join MHP in extending a heartfelt thank you to this talented and dedicated group of professionals.
