OSKALOOSA, IA — Change the world at the Robots after school theatre camp with the George Daily Youth Theatre! Camp starts the week of March 28.

“Last year in our Zombies camp, we created this group of characters and this world that also had robots,” explained Andy McGuire, Education Director at the George Daily Auditorium. “This camp uses that as the inspiration, but the campers themselves will write and create the story they want.”

In this filming-based camp, students will write and create their own films based on a Robots theme. The year is 3895 and the world is on the edge of robotic domination. Campers can be robots trying to conquer the world, or they can be humans trying to find a new way for the two species to coexist. There will be a showcase performance on Friday, May 6 at 5:30 p.m.

“We’ve been experimenting with film over the past year,” said McGuire. “It’s an extension of theatre, and learning how to use all art forms is important.”

Different age groups will meet at different times throughout the week. On Mondays & Tuesdays, 3-5th graders will meet from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. starting on March 28. Kindergarteners through 2nd graders will meet every Wednesday from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. starting on March 30. Campers in 6-8th grade will meet Thursdays & Fridays from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. starting on March 31.

“This is a building camp, so the students get to write and plan the film,” said McGuire. “We’ll teach them filming and editing skills.”

This session is the final after school theatre camp of the year. Summer camp information will be announced soon.

Registration and payment will be accepted until the first day of camp. If you would like to discuss need-based financial aid or alternate payment plans, those options are available. Please contact the Education Director Andy McGuire at 641-672-3795 or youth@georgedaily.org. More information and registration forms can be picked up at the George Daily Auditorium office or online at www.georgedaily.org under the Education tab.
