Wilda “Tillie” Current, 82, of Indianola and formerly of Oskaloosa passed away Friday evening, February 26, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Wilda Martha Current, daughter of William and Ethel (Foster) Ashman Sr., was born September 17, 1933, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. “Tillie”, as she was soon called, grew up in the Cedar area and was a 1951 graduate of Cedar High School. December 30, 1960, she was united in marriage to Robert William Current in Oskaloosa.

They made their home in Oskaloosa and Tillie worked at the Continental Overall Factory and local restaurants until they moved to Indianola in 1972 to be closer to Bob’s work. In her spare time, Tillie enjoyed sewing and spending time outdoors.

Her family includes her husband of 55 years, Bob, of Indianola; a brother, William Ashman Jr. of Oskaloosa; three sisters-in-law: Martha Ashman of Adel, Theresa Ashman of Indianola and Carol Vance of Oskaloosa.

In addition to her parents, Tillie was preceded in death by three brothers: Bob, Bryce and Gordon Ashman.

As was her wish, Tillie’s body has been cremated.
Burial of her ashes will be in Forest Cemetery.
No services will be held.
