Oskaloosa–Tarah Alexander (Sr., Cedar, Iowa, Physical Education) and Payton Busch (Jr., Centerville, Iowa, Secondary Education) were rewarded Monday for finally breaking through onto the qualifying lists as they were named Heart of America Athletic Conference Track Athletes of the Week.

Alexander is now a three-time winner (second time this season), while Busch notched his first career accolade as they qualified for nationals in their last chance meet at the Eastern Illinois Friday Night Special this past weekend.

Alexander hit the NAIA’s provisional standard and broke her own school record with a 1,000-meter run time of 3:02.98. She currently ranks 24th in the nation in the event.

Busch was a provisional qualifier as well, doing so in the 800-meter run with a first-place time of 1:56.02. He is 21st in the nation in the 800.

The programs have combined for seven weekly awards this year (four men, three women).
