Barnstormers Crush Season Opener 56-50

Iowa Barnstormers Return Home Friday, February 26
DES MOINES, IA. – The Iowa Barnstormers opened the 2016 season with a 56-50 win over the Colorado Crush in Loveland, Colorado.
The Barnstormers took an early lead scoring on their second possession with a touchdown pass from quarterback Donovan Porterie to receiver Lemans Casimier. Colorado struck back quickly to tie up the game. After a touchdown from Porterie and a pair of rushing touchdowns from running back Robbie Rouse, the Barnstormers led 28-24 at the half.
The Crush took a 31-28 lead in the third quarter with a 43 yard touchdown drive. The Barnstormers responded with a 30 yard touchdown pass from Porterie to Casimier. A successful PAT from kicker Josh Gable gave the Barnstormers a 35-31 lead.
Gable started off the fourth quarter with a 36 yard field goal adding 3 points to the Barnstormers score. Back and forth scoring from both teams kept the game tied throughout the quarter. The Crush fumbled off the kickoff allowing Casimier the recovery for his third touchdown of the night giving the Barnstormers a 56-44 lead. The Crush followed with a touchdown. The game came down to the Barnstormers defense holding with 4 seconds remaining in the game to seal the win 56-50.
The Barnstormers will return to Des Moines on Friday, February 26, 2016 for their home opener where they will take on the Green Bay Blizzard. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. The game will feature happy hour drink specials through the first quarter. The first 1,000 fans at the game will receive a schedule poster.
