OSKALOOSA – Thanks to some generous funding from United Way of Mahaska County, all third grade students living or attending school in Mahaska County are able to receive free swim lessons!

The United Way has partnered with Mahaska County YMCA to provide FREE swim lessons to any 3rd grader who wishes to participate in swim lessons. You can sign up your child for swim lessons just like you would for any other Y swim program, but there is no fee to pay; United Way is taking care of the lesson fees! There are several spring sessions to choose from:

Tuesday & Thursday Evenings ~ 4-week sessions

* 6 to 6:45 p.m. or 6:45 to 7 p.m.
* March 1 to March 24
* March 29 to April 21
* April 26 to May 19

Saturday Mornings ~ 8-week sessions

* Parent-Child Swim Lessons / Child Swim Lessons
* 9:45 to 10:30 a.m.
* March 5 to April 23
* April 30 to June 18

“We will also be offering swim lessons during the summer,” said YMCA Youth Director Emily Macki. “As the summer months get closer, a summer swim lesson schedule will be available. Anyone who just finished 3rd grade and anyone going into 3rd grade will be eligible for the free swim lessons during the summer months.” For more information, contact Macki at 641.673.8411 or emily.macki@mahaskaymca.org.
