Randy Kapple, 58 of Ottumwa and formerly of What Cheer died at his home on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. Randy Dean Kapple was born February 26, 1957 in Oskaloosa, Iowa the son of Don and Jean Thomas Kapple.

Randy was a 1975 graduate of Tri-County High School and later attended Indian Hills Community College where he received degrees in Horticulture and Ag. Mechanics.

In his professional life Randy was a welder at Al-Jon for several years and most recently he was employed at Van Gorp.

Randy learned as a young child to play the bass guitar and over the years played in several bands. Randy had an undeniable talent when it came to playing guitar, so much so that people knew who was playing before even looking at the stage.

He is survived by his mother, Jean Kapple of Delta; two daughters: Carrie Ann (& Donnie) Vander Ecken of Oskaloosa and Randi Jo (& Denny) O’Leary of Ottumwa; five grandchildren: Trayton Dean, Seth Edward, Jacob Lynn, Brinden James and Taryn Elizabeth; two brothers: Larry (& Joy) Kapple of Delta and Terri (& Pam) Kapple of Parnell; a sister, Nancy (& Dante) Rebori of Springfield, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frank and Margaret Thomas; his paternal grandparents, Cleo and Zola Kapple; his father, Don Kapple; a sister-in-law, Connie Kapple; and two nephews, Christopher and Ross Kapple.

A celebration of life service will begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.
Visitation with the family present will begin at 10:00 am Saturday morning and last until the time of service.
Burial will be held privately.
