Albia state qualifiers with a record of 133-5

Class 2A Results

The combined record of the 4 wrestlers Albia is sending to the state tournament next week is a staggering 133 wins and only 5 losses – this includes the unbeaten 37-0 mark for Carter Isley. Isley, who has already committed to wrestling at UNI next year has only amassed 8 losses in his entire career. The Blue Demons are no stranger to the state tournament having appeared there every year for the past decade and beyond. Isley (285) will be joined by Aden Reeves (106), Bryce Leshen (145) and Blake Lawless (152). The Blue Demons under head coach Dave Winger took 3rd place in the Class 2a District finals in Knoxville over the weekend just 2 points behind second place Ballard. ADM finished first. Albia takes their entire team to the state Duals competition next Wednesday morning. Coach Dave Winger says “any time you can put yourself in a potion to win state titles you have to be excited”

Prairie City Monroe had a strong showing and will also send on 4 wrestlers to next week’s finals at Wells Fargo Arena. They include Lucas Rowland (138), Xavier Miller (145), Wes Cummings (152) and Jarron Trausch (170).

Knoxville adds Jordan Beal (195) and Travis Poffenbarger (220) to the roster of the top 224 2a wrestlers from all over Iowa descending on downtown Des Moines.
