Barbara Moffet, 83, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born July 2, 1932, in Evans, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Vione Greenhalgh Dunsmoor.

Barb graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1950. On January 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert Moffet in Oskaloosa; he died May 23, 2013.

Early on Barb worked at the Milky Way Dairy, then at the telephone office as a switchboard operator. She also worked in the office at Tower Park Care Center in Oskaloosa, Ladies Ready Wear for Betty Gay, and Houlton’s. In 1989 she went to work with her daughter and son-in-law at Jansen Parts and Service, she retired from there in 1999.

Barbara was a member of the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa. Her family was the center of her life, spending time with her children and grandchildren was always a highlight. She and Bob always enjoyed camping at music festivals around the mid-west. They also enjoyed wintering in Florida. For the past four years Barb has enjoyed being a member of, and performing with the Vantastics Kitchen Band. She looked forward to touring local care facilities and singing and performing skits with her friends.

Her family includes her three daughters: Deborah (& David Pope) Vickers of Hedrick, Sandra (& Jim) Jansen of Oskaloosa and Terri (& Roy) Kool of Oskaloosa; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Bettie (& Tony) Gray of Oskaloosa.

In addition to her husband Robert, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; and a son in law, Michael Vickers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will open Monday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Monday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to MHP Hospice Serenity House.
