Oskaloosa 8th Grade Boy’s 1 Win Away from Undefeated Season
The Oskaloosa 8th Grade Boys basketball team picked up 3 more wins and are now only 1 win away from a perfect season. The Indians ran their record to 11-0 with wins over Sigourney, Newton and Pella.
Oskaloosa defeated Sigourney 47-34 on 1-15-16 in the “A” game. Tyler Miller led the way with 17 points, 3 steals and 3 rebounds. Reese Sarver was next in line with 9 points and 3 steals. Noah Van Veldhuizen and Colton Butler each scored 6 and Van Veldhuizen pulled down a team leading 7 rebounds. Walker Newman and Iszac Schultz rounded out the scoring with 5 and 4 points respectively. Sigourney would win the “B” game 12-11. Caden Bambrook led the way with 4 points. Collin Bambrook had 3 points while Treyton Shilling and Mason Barnhart rounded out the scoring with 2 points each.
The Indians returned to action on 1-19 -16 against Newton and handled the Cardinals 54-17. Van Veldhuizen led all scores with 14 points. Xavier Foster was next with 12 points and a team high 11 rebounds. Tyler Miller scored 10 points while Iszac Schultz and Colton Butler scored 7 and 5 points. Walker Newman chipped in 3 points and Treyton Shilling rounded out the scoring with 2 points. The Indians fell in the “B” game 32-15. Owen Gordon, Sullivan Tighe and Andy Scholes all scored 4 points. Treyton Shilling had 2 points while Caden Bambrook had 1 point.
On 1-25-16 the Pella Little Dutch came to Oskaloosa hoping to end the Indians undefeated season. Oskaloosa would struggle through the game but was still able to prevail in a 47-41 win. Tyler Miller led the way scoring with 11 points. Xavier Foster, coming back from an injury, scored 10 points and grabbed 8 boards. Noah Van Veldhuizen scored 8 points and led the team with 9 rebounds. Iszac Schultz and Colton butler both scored 7 points. Reese Sarver and Walker Newman rounded out the scoring with 2 points each. Pella won the “B” game 50-6. Dalton Deny had 3 points while Owen Gordon and Treyton Shilling scored 2 and 1 points. Oskaloosa also dropped the “C” game 17-6. Andy Scholes led the way with 4 points. The Indians “A” team goes for their perfect season on 2-1-16 at Norwalk. Norwalk will be the toughest team they all year!
