Patricia Hacker, 64, of Oskaloosa died Saturday, January 23, 2016, at her home in Oskaloosa. She was born March 2, 1951, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of Irvin and Connie Byers Bolton.

Pat graduated from Red Oak High School with the Class of 1970. She continued her education at Iowa Western Community College and later the University of Northern Iowa.

It was at the University of Northern Iowa where she met her future husband Rodney Hacker. On August 10, 1974, the two of them were married at the Hawthorne Methodist Church at Emerson, Iowa.

Early on Pat worked cleaning houses. In 1975, the two of them moved to Oskaloosa. Following their move to Oskaloosa, Pat stayed home to care for her family. She also provided daycare in her home for over 21 years. She worked for five years at Home Oil in Oskaloosa. Lastly she worked the front desk at the Comfort Inn, she retired from there in February of 2015. Pat also cared for many special needs children in Oskaloosa.

Pat was a member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oskaloosa. She enjoyed cooking with her grandchildren. Pat loved attending events when her family was participating, she had a great gym voice and would use it to cheer for her sons while they wrestled. She also enjoyed collecting pig statues.

Her family includes her husband of over 41 years, Rodney Hacker of Oskaloosa; three sons: Jason (& Shannon) Hacker of Oskaloosa, Bryan Hacker of Oskaloosa, and Steven (& Katie) Hacker of Eddyville; four grandchildren: Jacob, Hayle, Holdin, and Emilly Hacker; two brothers: Jerry (& Kathy) Bolton of Griswold, Iowa, and Michael Bolton of Knoxville; four sisters: Gwen (& Greg) Eggers of Carson, Iowa, Carolyn Bolton of Red Oak, Iowa, Amy (& Kerry) Confer of Red Oak, Iowa, and Julie Bolton of Red Oak, Iowa; brothers and sisters in law: Marsha Hacker of Gilmore City, Iowa, Virgil (& Mary) Hacker of Dakota City, Iowa, Frank (& Virginia) Hacker of Ottosen, Iowa, and Denise Hacker of Ottosen, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, former day care kids, and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Bolton and Susan Bolton.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Samuel Beltz officiating.
Burial will be in the Beacon Cemetery, west of Beacon. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Monday after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-8 to greet friends and relatives.
