Mary Lou Barth, 82, of Oskaloosa died Friday, January 22, 2016, at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born October 25, 1933, in Mahaska County, the daughter of Hershel and Edith Brown McAdoo.

In 1951, she was united in marriage to Gordon Jochims at Tama; Gordon died in 1991. In 1992, she was united in marriage to Wayne Barth at the Little Brown Church in Nashua; Wayne died in 2006.

Mary Lou worked as a cook for many years at Tama Community School District. In 1988, they moved to Oskaloosa where she worked as a cook at the hospital, she retired from there in the early 2000’s. In retirement she worked as Tasos. Last she worked at Wal-Mart and retired from there in 2012.

Mary Lou enjoyed trips to the Casino with her siblings, bowling, cleaning, and cooking. She delighted in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Her family includes her two sons and their wives: Robert (& Margaret) Jochims of Corpus Christy, Texas, and Gary (& Nanette) Jochims of Oskaloosa; seven grandchildren: Josh Jochims, Jeremy Jochims, Ashley Jochims, Andrea Jochims, Chelsey Jochims, Julie Jochims, and Michael Jochims; seven great grandchildren; three brothers: Jerry (& Martha) McAdoo of Marshalltown, Ronnie McAdoo of Kent, Washington, and Donnie McAdoo of Chickasaw, Oklahoma; three sisters: Marilyn Patton of Oskaloosa, Phyllis (& Jim) Lang of Oskaloosa, and Wilma (& Harold) Adams of California; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her two husbands, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter in infancy, Nancy Jochims; six brothers: Marvin McAdoo, Jay McAdoo, Jack McAdoo, Ray McAdoo, Ivan McAdoo and Buster McAdoo; three sisters: Helen Randall, Judith Beadle and Connie Sue McAdoo.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Andy Baker officiating.
As was Mary Lou’s wish her body will be cremated following the funeral ceremony. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Tuesday after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Tuesday evening to greet friends and relatives.
