“World War II Through the Eyes of Sgt. Rinsema”

Mr. Rinsema will be repeating an excellent presentation he made to a couple hundred people at Pella Christian High School during the week of Veteran’s Day. His father was a part of the U.S. Army company which liberated a concentration camp at the end of WWII. This is a fascinating presentation of history through PowerPoint photographs and Sgt. Rinsema’s own words.

“Preventing Piglet Loss”

These honored Oskaloosa Christian graduates have partnered in an exciting entrepreneurial venture which will save hog farmers significant monies. A patent is pending for wired collars which fit over the honches of sows; when the sow rests with too much weight on her piglets, the collar applies a reasonable shock to the sow’s back, causing the sow to stand up and not smother her babies to death. Come hear about the innovation and technology which will benefit you and consumers!

“GMO Foods from a Seed Company’s Perspective”

A graduate of Oskaloosa Christian, Brad Van Kooten serves Pioneer as Senior Marketing Manager, Corn, Product Strategy Group, North America. GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms,” are living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering, or GE. Discussions about GMOs can generate strong opinions. Come hear Brad’s perspective, and interact with him, especially if you do not share his opinion. Such is the essence of education and making informed decisions.
