Glen Boughton, 83, of Oskaloosa passed away early Monday morning, January 11, 2016, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa.

Melburn Glen Boughton, son of Harry and Angie Fern (McMains) Boughton, was born March 29, 1932, in rural Barnes City, Iowa.

Glen was raised in the Lacey area and as a youngster was active in 4-H. He graduated from Lacey High School in 1949.

After school Glen worked with his father on the family farm. Glen entered the military, July 15, 1952, and was stationed with the Army in Germany. Upon his return to Iowa in January 1954, he resumed working with his father on the family farm. In 1968, he moved to the New Sharon area and took a job at the Taintor Co-op Elevator. He also did custom spraying for farmers in the area. Later, Glen became a real estate agent with Century 21. He then worked as a car salesman for Van Zee Motors for a number of years before purchasing the business. He renamed it “The Auto Plaza” and operated it with his son, Paul, until the time of his retirement.

Glen married Glenna Ballinger, November 23, 1952, and to this union four children were born. They later divorced. He married Martha Liles, October 3, 1978. They later divorced.

As a young father, he was a Cub Scout leader and resumed his affiliation with 4-H as a club leader. Glen enjoyed cars from an early age and enjoyed drawing them his whole life. He also enjoyed traveling.

Glen’s family includes his children and their spouses: Paul (& Andrea) Boughton of Ankeny, Larry (& Diane) Boughton of Montezuma, David (& Sheryl) Boughton of Williamsburg, and Lisa (& Bob) Kramer of Mantorville, MN; a step-daughter, Amanda Rauch of Belmond, IA; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and special friends, Angie & Jeramie Moore and family of Oskaloosa.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday morning, January 15, 2016, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Smiley officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. The Oskaloosa Honor Guard will present military Honors.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday morning, the funeral chapel; the family will be present to greet visitors from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Lacey United Methodist Church.
