The Oskaloosa Indian 6th grade boys went 3-0 and claimed the championship at the Mid-December Shootout hosted by Oskaloosa Storm baseball and held in Oskaloosa on December 12. The Indians won their first game over Pella 49-30. The Indians got off to a fast start making several shots and scoring on transition baskets. A strong second half of defense and continued efficient offensive output secured the win. Oskaloosa moved on to play Meskwaki in the second game and controlled the entire game with all nine players scoring and winning 47-18 setting up a championship game against Keokuk, who had also won their first two games. Oskaloosa and Keokuk battled to a first half tie at 16-16 with both defenses slowing the opponent scoring down. The Indians would come out in the second half and dominate as they limited Keokuk to only 6 points and scored 26 points of their own to take the convincing win 42-22. Oskaloosa will next be in action at Martensdale on Jan. 2.
