Taylor garners weekly conference honor

PELLA — Central College junior forward Colby Taylor (Creston) has been named the Iowa Conference men’s basketball player of the week.

Taylor led the Dutch to a 2-0 week, averaging 25 points and nine rebounds in victories over Westminster (Mo.) and Grand View. In the 86-62 win Tuesday over the Blue Jays, Taylor scored 22 points and brought down five rebounds, adding six assists and a steal. Taylor notched his third double-double of the season and the 15th of his career in a 72-70 win over Grand View on Thursday, scoring 28 points and recording 13 rebounds.

Taylor and the Dutch (7-1) will take the court Thursday at Martin Luther (Minn.) for a 6 p.m. contest. Central defeated the Knights 109-50 last season in Pella.
