Swimming and Basketball Registration Going On Now

OSKALOOSA – Registration is now open at the Mahaska County YMCA for Adult Co-Ed Basketball League and 2016 swimming lessons.
The Co-Ed Basketball League is for anyone over the age of 18 who wants to play basketball whether a Y member or not. The league will be held on Monday nights starting January 18. Emily Macki, YMCA Youth Program Director said, “Basketball is a fun way to get active and enjoy a little competition.” Those interested can register individually or as a team.
Costs to join the Y Co-Ed Basketball league is $30 for a member individually or $40 for a non-member individually; $150 per team with a YMCA member captain or $200 per team with a non-member captain.
Registration for Swim Lessons is also taking place. The Y is offering several swim lesson options for people of all ages on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Lessons on Saturday include adult and child-parent lessons which allow an adult to participate with the child. Additionally, private and semi-private lessons (for 2-3 people) can be set whose schedules do not work with the Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday options.
Four weeks of swimming lessons are planned for each session which will run January through April. Tuesday and Thursday sessions have two time options: 6 to 6:45 p.m. or 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. Costs are $40 for Y members and $80 for no-members. Three Saturday morning sessions are scheduled in 2016 the first being January 9 through February 27 (eight lessons). Adult swim lessons are 9 to 9:45 a.m. and parent child swim lessons are 9:45 to 10:30 a.m.
If the Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday lesson times don’t work, private and semi-private sessions (2-3 people) can be scheduled. These lessons include eight 30-minute lessons. “We encourage members and non-members who are interested in learning to swim to select the best option which works for their families and schedules,” said Macki. Private lessons are $120 for members and $240 for non-members. Semi-private lessons are $60 for members and $120 for non-members.
