Indian 8th Grade Boys Stay Undefeated at 5-0

The Oskaloosa 8th grade boys basketball team kept their undefeated season intact with a pair of victories 40-21 over Newton and 55-25 over Carlisle last week.

The Indian “A” team jumped on Newton early and coasted to the 40-21 win. Noah Van Veldhuizen led the Indians in scoring with 10 points and also added 6 rebounds. Tyler Miller was next in scoring with 8 points and also pulled down 6 rebounds. Colton butler scored 7 points and Xavier Foster was right behind him with 6 points and 6 rebounds. Iszac Schultz and Walker Newman had 5 and 4 points also.

The Indian “B” team came up on the short end of a 27-18 score against Newton. Treyton Schilling, Sullivan Tighe, and Collin Bambrook all scored 4 points for the Indians. Caden Bambrook, Owen Gordan, and Dalton Deney chipped in 2 each. Schilling also had 3 rebounds.

The Indians then faced Carlisle on Friday night and rolled to a 30 point win 55-25. Van Velheuizen and Miller led the way with 12 points each. Schultz was next with 10 points and Butler right behind him with 9 points. Walker Newman had 6 points and foster chipped in 4 points. Dalton Deney rounded at the scoring with 2 points. Newman was the leading rebounder with 6 followed by Van Veldhuizen with 5. Foster also had 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Reese Sarver had 3 rebounds and 3 steals.

The “B” team fell 48-26. Sullivan Tighe had his best game of the year with 15 points. Dalton Deney was next with 3 points and Schilling, Caden Bambrook, Austin Adams and Andy Scholes all chipped in 2 points.

The Indians face their toughest test of the year against Pella Christian at 4:30 pm on Thursday at the Middle School gym. It will be their last game before Christmas break.
