OSKALOOSA, IA — One of the core values of the George Daily Youth Theatre is accessibility, but accessibility comes with a price. To that end, the program is fundraising scholarship money.

The George Daily Youth Theatre offers a year-round education program and more. “We have an after school program here in Oskaloosa and also with the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont school district, we do work with middle school enrichment classes, we run an eight-week summer camp, and we also do a lot of educational opportunities along with the professional shows that come through here,” said Andy McGuire, Education Director at the auditorium. “Last year, we served about 1500 children across Mahaska County.”

“We want to make our program available to everyone,” said Jessica Vetter, Operations Manager. “Last year, we gave out around $5,500 in scholarships and discounts for families to come to camp. This year, we anticipate needing at least $6,000.”

To help cover the costs of those scholarships and discounts, the auditorium is raising extra funds.

The George Daily Auditorium is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, so all donations are tax-deductible.

“The money we raise helps kids go to camp and participate in something they care about. Your donation makes programming available to every child in our community, no matter what,” said McGuire.

Theatre teaches creativity, communication, teamwork, and other important life skills to young people, added McGuire.

There are many ways to give, from a one-time gift to a new monthly donation option. “If people want to support the auditorium on an ongoing basis, we can now do monthly donations, even if it’s just $5 per month,” said Vetter. “You just contact our office once to set it up and it’s all automated from there.”

“We’re so thankful for all the support we get, large or small,” added McGuire.
