Officers Respond To Man With A Gun Call At Southern Hills Apartment

Police officers with the Oskaloosa Police Department and Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office wait to let residents back in to Southern Hills Apartment until confirmation there was no danger.

On Saturday, October 24th, 2015, shortly after 11 p.m., Officers of the Oskaloosa Police Department were dispatched to the Southern Hills Apartment Complex located at 202 18th Avenue East, in reference to a man with a gun.
Upon Officer’s arrival, and following an investigation into this complaint, Officers arrested 21-year-old Vincent James Reese, who resides in apartment #217 at this complex. Reese was charged with Assault While Displaying A Dangerous Weapon. There are also drug-related charges pending against Reese as a result of this investigation. During the investigation, Officers located and seized a “Savage” 12-gauge shotgun. No persons were injured as a result of this incident.
Reese was incarcerated in the Mahaska County Jail and will make his initial appearance in the Mahaska County District Court later this day.
It should be noted a criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
