Fairy Patterson, 89, of Oskaloosa passed away, Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Oakwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Albia. Fairy Mae Patterson, daughter of W. R. and Mary Hazel (Adams) Padgett, was born October 8, 1925, at her parents’ rural Oskaloosa, Iowa home.

After graduating with the class of 1942 from Oskaloosa High School, Fairy took a clerical position with J. H. Wake Feeds. She was united in marriage with Clyde Patterson, February 17, 1946, in Oskaloosa where they made their home. Fairy stayed at home with her daughters when they were young and then in 1969 she accepted a clerical position at Clow Valve Company. She worked there 15 years, retiring in 1984. Clyde passed away, July 24, 1974, after they had been married 28 years.

Fairy enjoyed working in her yard, especially her flower beds. She also loved attending her grandchildren’s athletic events.

Fairy’s family includes her daughter, Patricia (& Keith) Groenenboom of Eddyville; her son-in-law, Ron Snowbarger and his second wife, Jackie, of Waverly; seven grandchildren: Joel (& Trish) Groenenboom and their children: Emma and Landry of Cedar Rapids; Denise (& Willie) Crile and their daughters: Mercedes, Konstanze, and Alleighsyn of North Liberty; Angela (& Ryan) Waltz of Clive, IA; Cari Groenenboom (& Chris Neis) and his daughter, Emma of Ottumwa; Jennifer (& Mike) Comfort and their son, Ryan of Oskaloosa; Elizabeth (& Cory) McBurney and their daughters: Kate and Natalie of Oskaloosa; and Jessica (& Brandon) Graham and their unborn child of Oskaloosa.

In addition to her parents, Fairy was preceded in death by her husband Clyde; her daughter Carol; a brother, Raymond Padgett; and three sisters: Doris Towns, Virginia Brink and an infant sister, Dorothy.

Funeral Service for Fairy will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 1, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Andy Baker of the Central Reformed Church officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral chapel; the family will greet visitors from 5-7 p.m.

Memorial Contributions may be made to MHP Hospice Services or Timberline at Homestead.
