October 1—3 will mark the 50th year of Oskaloosa’s AAUW Used Book Sale, this year in partnership with Friends of the Oskaloosa Public Library. Also new this year is a 50/50 raffle. Tickets will be the same price as most of the books: $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. The winning name will be drawn on Sunday following the sale, for one lucky person to win half the raffle receipts.

The sale begins at noon on Thursday, Oct. 1, in center court of Penn Central Mall in Oskaloosa. Sale times are Thursday: noon—8 p.m., Friday: 10 a.m.—8 p.m., Saturday: 10 a.m.—2 p.m. All kinds of used books, CD’s, games, puzzles and magazines have been accumulating since last year’s sale and have been stored and sorted in space donated by SHARE Iowa On Saturday, a bag of books can be purchased for $5.00. Books will be left at the mall from 3 p.m. Saturday to 3 p.m. Sunday and can be picked up for free. Goodwill will pick up the remaining books at 3 p.m. Sunday.

AAUW (American Association of University Women) is a non-profit organization and has been a leading advocate for girls and women, awarding scholarships and financing research. Proceeds from the book sale are used for scholarships at William Penn and through the national organization and for local activities benefiting women and girls. Friends of the Oskaloosa Public Library (FOPL) raises funds for items and activities not included in the budget of the library.

AAUW and FOPL would especially like to thank Penn Central Mall, SHARE Iowa, Goodwill, HyVee, and the train club for their helpfulness and cooperation.
