2. Please describe your prior community involvement (appointed or election positions, volunteer activities, ect.)
OCSD School Board, IHCC Advisory Committee for Drafting/Design Tech Program, Various United Way and William Penn events
3. Why are you running?
The youth of our community is our greatest treasure. We need individuals that will held accountable for their education and hold others accountable to provide that education. This is why I am running for reelection of district 6.
4. What do you believe is the biggest problem facing the Oskaloosa School District and what is the solution?
I believe OSCD is facing many of the same issues that so many other schools are facing. The biggest is the decline of cultural and social values. We as a society need to push to hold all responsible for their actions. This begins with each of ourselves. When we can hold ourselves responsible, we begin to hold our leaders responsible.
5. What is the role of the school board?
The school board should be the overseer for the school system based on local needs and wants of the community.
6. How can the school board promote increased student achievement?
The school board promotes student achievement by celebrating the successes within the district. When the district fails to reach its goals and expectations, the board must work with the administration team to take corrective action.
7. Have you ever been in a role that called for accountability in the public sector and do you have any objections to the accountability the position you seek will require?
Accountability should be one of the foremost items in the public sector. This is one thing I have pushed for sitting on the current board.
8. Why should voters cast their ballots for you?
I believe we are on the verge of making our district one of the best in the state. The goals and expectations set forth by the current board and administration has placed an emphasis on improving student achievement. As part of the theses goals and expectations, I will maintain accountability that our students are successful.

If reelected, I look forward to serving this great community and pushing for higher achievements of our students.
