William Eric Blevins ’04 made a name for himself as a diver at Grinnell College.

This week he’ll be competing on even a bigger stage as he dives in the 16th World Masters Championships in Kazan, Russia.

Nicknamed “Country” during his time at Grinnell, Blevins will be part of the one-meter competition on Wednesday and compete in the three-meter event the following day.

While at Grinnell, Blevins was a two-time All-American and became the first diver to win eight Midwest Conference championships. He was selected to the Grinnell Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.

Blevins, who noted he would wear a Grinnell diving shirt under his warmup clothing at the competition, currently is the diving coach at Rider University.
